Short answer: most visitors to Bali need a visa on arrival, which costs IDR 500,000 and gives you 30 days. On top of that, every foreign tourist pays the Bali tourist tax of IDR 150,000 once per trip, and fills in the free All Indonesia arrival form in the three days before the flight. You can arrange all three online, so you walk through the airport faster.
Below you find what each one is, what it costs and where to pay, with the official sources. Rules change, so check the links again shortly before you travel.

The visa is national and is paid to the immigration service. The tourist tax is a Bali levy and is paid to the province. They are two separate payments on two separate websites.
Do you need a visa?
That depends on your passport.
- Visa on arrival. Citizens of about 97 countries can buy a visa on arrival. The official list includes the Netherlands, Germany, France, the United Kingdom, the United States, Australia, Japan, South Korea, China and Taiwan.
- No visa needed. Citizens of the ASEAN countries, such as Malaysia, Singapore, Thailand and the Philippines, and a few other countries can enter without a visa for up to 30 days. This stay cannot be extended.
- Everyone else applies for a visa before travel.
Check your own nationality on the immigration website, imigrasi.go.id, before you book. The lists change from time to time.
The visa on arrival (B1) in short
- Cost: IDR 500,000 per person.
- Stay: up to 30 days, counted from the day you arrive.
- Extension: once, for another 30 days. That makes 60 days at most.
- Entry: single entry. If you leave Indonesia, the visa ends.
- Passport: valid for at least 6 months on arrival. GOV.UK also advises at least 2 blank pages.
- Ticket: you need a return ticket or an onward ticket to another country.
- Purpose: tourism, family visits, meetings and transit. You may not work, sell goods or services, or receive a wage on this visa. GOV.UK adds that it is not suitable for paid content or influencer work.

Online (e-VoA) or at the airport?
You have two ways to get the same visa.
- Online, the e-VoA. Apply on the official site evisa.imigrasi.go.id and pay by card. The visa comes by email, and the immigration service says it is usually sent within 24 hours. The e-VoA must be used within 90 days of issue.
- At the airport. You pay at the visa on arrival counter in the arrival hall. GOV.UK says you can pay in cash or by card.
The online route saves you a queue. Use only the official site. GOV.UK warns about fake visa websites and agents that charge extra or take your money without arranging a visa.
Extending your stay
If you want to stay longer than 30 days, extend before the first 30 days end. An e-VoA can be extended online on the same evisa site. Do not leave it to your last days: an immigration office advises applying at least 7 days before your stay ends.
Overstaying costs IDR 1,000,000 per day. GOV.UK adds that an overstay can lead to deportation and a ban on coming back.
The All Indonesia arrival form
Since 1 October 2025, every international traveller to Indonesia fills in one digital arrival declaration, called All Indonesia. It combines the immigration, customs, health and quarantine questions that used to be on separate forms.
- Fill it in at allindonesia.imigrasi.go.id or in the All Indonesia app.
- Do it within 3 days before you arrive.
- It is free. Sites that ask money for this form are not official.
- Save the QR code on your phone. Officers at the airport scan it.
If you arrive with cash or other means of payment worth IDR 100 million or more, you must declare it to customs. The customs declaration is part of the All Indonesia form.

The Bali tourist tax
The Bali provincial government charges a levy on foreign tourists. According to the province, the money goes to protecting Balinese culture and the natural environment.
- Amount: IDR 150,000 per person.
- How often: the official FAQ says you pay one time while you travel in Bali, before you leave Indonesia.
- Where: online at lovebali.baliprov.go.id or in the Love Bali app, before you fly. You can also pay at the counters at the airport and ports in Bali, or through registered partners such as some hotels and travel agents.
- How: cashless only. The site accepts Visa, Mastercard, American Express, JCB, UnionPay, bank transfer, virtual account and QRIS.
- Proof: you get a levy voucher with a QR code by email. Show the voucher or your passport at the checkpoints.
- Refunds: the levy is not refundable.
Make sure your email address is correct when you pay, because the voucher goes there.
Some people do not pay, for example holders of diplomatic visas, crew, holders of a KITAS or KITAP stay permit, and holders of family or student visas. Holders of a golden visa or another non-tourist visa must apply for the exemption in the Love Bali system at least 5 days before arrival.
